How Color Psychology Affects Logo Design?


Colors form an important part of the overall web design experience for the users. Many business owners do not give a second thought to the color that they are selecting for a logo. However, they do not keep in mind the impact that their color choices have on their customers. Colors are directly associated with the kinds of emotions that they generate in consumers. When a new product comes to the market, the first thing that is noticed about is its color and the kind of assumptions that they make about it even before they have actually used it. Let us view how different colors affect choices made by consumers.
Green
Green is often related to the eco-friendly products since the color of leaves is also green. Some of the other relations are connecting green with good luck, nature, and health. Green is considered safe. The traffic signal lights use green, meaning giving you the sign of “good to go” as it is safe. Some brands having green color include Android, Land Rover, Holiday Inn and Starbucks Coffee among others.
Purple
There are different ways in which purple is interpreted. Some consider it a color of wisdom. Yet there is another way of taking purple, representing the luxury brands. Some of the meanings related to purple include arrogance, royalty and mystery. Companies which famously used purple for their logos include T Mobile, Craiglist, and Yahoo among others.
Blue
Blue represents calmness of the ocean. Some also related it to the color of the sky. It represents calmness and greater confidence in something. Various brands use blue for their logos. Mostly people associate confidence, trust, reliability and cleanliness with the color blue. Blue color is used in logos by companies like Facebook, LinkedIn, Vimeo, Flickr and Dell among others.
Red
Red is often considered a high arousal color which directly stirs our emotions as customers. It gives people the courage to go beyond the ordinary and take the risks that they have to. Some of the typical feelings that originate from the color red are of energy, passion, love and aggression. Famous companies that use color red for their logos include CNN, Cnet, Adobe, Toyota and Honda among others.
Yellow

Yellow is a lot similar in terms of the types of emotions that it stirs like Red. The feelings of optimism, acceptability and being different or exotic are associated with this color. Many big and internationally recognized brands including Shell, National Geographic, DHL, Ikea, and Nikon use it.
